The Ultimate Summer Writing Experience
This summer, the “Write On! Summer Writing program has expanded! Check out all that we’re offering for the summer of 2012!
Write On! Summer Writing Experience (June 11 – August 3); for children age eight to 12 years old:
This group of aspiring writers meets Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Participants learn the various styles and genres of writing and how to really make their words come alive! There are original and fun writing exercises of poetry, short stories, and journal entries that will enable the young writers to connect via their literary passions, become excited about writing, and develop strong writing skills while having fun during the process. They will also explore the lives of many of the great writers of our times. Field trips are sprinkled throughout and the experience will conclude with a published book filled with their writings! Participant driven fund raising efforts will help offset the cost of publishing the book. Cost per participant: $120 per week. Early drop off with breakfast/late pick up with snack (7am drop off; 6pm pick up) costs an additional $25 per week per participant.
Write On! Summer Writing Program (June 11 – August 4); for children age 11 to 18 years old:
This group of aspiring writers meets on-line one day per week for one hour on Monday or Thursday at 7pm or Saturday morning at 10am from the comfort of their home. The one hour sessions are peppered by original and fun writing exercises of poetry, short stories, and journal entries that will enable the young writers to connect via their literary passions, become excited about writing, and develop strong writing skills while having fun during the process. All sessions are virtual (via the Internet) which means you don’t have to travel anywhere!
Selected writings will be featured in a book that the participants will be able to share with their family, friends, and the world! Participant driven fund raising efforts will help offset the cost of publishing the book. Cost: $75 per participant for the length of the program.
Write On! Saturday Writing Intensive (June 9 – August 4); for children age 12 to 18 years old:
This is where the rubber meets the road with writing essays and research papers. This group of serious and driven writers meets weekly from 11am to 1pm. It’s going to be jam packed with tips and insight on how to write an essay that will capture the reader’s attention! Participants will learn:
• The different types of essays
• Two crucial components no essay should be without
• How to make your essay come ALIVE on paper
• Commonly confused words used in essays
• Writing for high school, college, and scholarship applications
Additionally, they will learn how to conduct research and turn their findings into a finished written product using general APA guidelines. Cost: $175 per participant for the length of the program.
