Gratitude (n) – grátti toód: The state of being grateful; thankfulness
“The state of being” speaks to our existence. Therefore, the posture of gratitude is really the same as breathing.
Being thankful in every situation, no matter how uncomfortable, has the ability to shift your present. I recall such a shift this past March as I was renewing my driver’s license. The doors to the MVA were not due to open for another 35 minutes, it was 32 degrees outside, and I was number 30 in line. To take my mind off of my frozen toes, I immediately began thanking God for everything: my family, my ability to feel the cold, and even numb fingers. When the doors opened, I advanced to number six in line because I had my expired license with me; I was finished the entire process in 17 minutes.
I totally attribute that blessing to my state of gratitude. Sure, I could have complained during my wait, but what good would that have done? Today and everyday, I encourage you to be thankful…no matter what!
